We all want even skin tone, but hyperpigmentation is very common in people from fair to dark skin. We call the spots of hyperpigmentation a variety of names – discoloration, dark spots, brown spots, age spots, sun spots, chloasma, or melasma. But the bottom line is that they make people feel self-conscious about how they look.

What are age spots?

Age spots, sometimes called liver spots, are light to dark brown patches that can appear on the face, hands, arms, décolleté and legs. Age spots have rounded edges and look very much like freckles. Age spots develop as a genetics or unprotected and prolonged sun exposure. Many years of tanning, living in a sunny climate or working outdoors makes people more likely to develop age spots.

What are sun spots?

Sun spots are the results of long term exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays. These flat, brownish patches appear on areas that are most often exposed to the sun, like face, hands and arms. In some cases, sun spots obscure the presence of skin cancer.

Laser treatments are ideal for the removal of age, sun spots and hyperpigmentation. Individual sunspots, age spots and freckles respond well to newly advanced laser treatments, in which the laser light is absorbed by the darkened pigment, thereby lightening or destroying it and leaving the skin looking more uniform in color, texture, and appearance.

Glo Medical Spa has three different lasers that can treat age spots ,sun spots and hyperpigmentation.
